ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Warm Tan

Even though I do love blushing cheeks, this summer I've been obsessed with the warm, bronzy beach goddess glow that bronzers can give, and since I'm currently loving my tan skin, I thought that a bronzer would be perfect for accentuating my complexion.

I read in numerous blog posts that everyone was raving about these bronzers that ELF was selling. So with high hopes, I decided to try them out for myself.

A touch of sunshine to warm up every complexion with its soft and silky texture for a beautiful and natural glow.

The packaging looks... meh. Nothing really special, just a clear plastic case with the bronzer glued inside (you can see the glue marks at the bottom). And you can easily tell that it's flimsy. I'm afraid to put it in my bag in fear that it would break easily and cover my things with powder and shimmer, and removing such powder and shimmer would definitely be a pain.

I got the shade Warm Tan, the darkest of the three shades available, which is light brown and pinkish in color. I's texture is very soft, though not finely milled, and is very pigmented. I initially wanted to get Sunkissed, but I thought that maybe I could also use Warm Tan for contouring.

Which, my dear friends, was a big mistake on my part. The problem I have with this bronzer is that, although very pretty, it's loaded with shimmer. Contouring powder shouldn't have shimmer since it would defeat the purpose and can easily make you look like a disco ball.

See how pretty it is? I've tried using this on my cheeks but to no avail. The shimmer is just too obvious. So in order to put this baby to good use, I dust it on my shoulders, chest, and legs and add a little bit of the product to my body lotion. The end result? Glowy, sun-kissed skin that's ready for summer.

Price:

P129.75. It only costs a dollar in the US, but here in the Philippines the price is three times as much. I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm being robbed whenever I buy stuff from ELF, no matter how cheap it is compared to other brands.

Where to Buy:

You can buy this at any ELF stall or from re-sellers online.

Ingredients:

Talc, Mica (CI 77019), Paraffinium Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Stearate, Kaolin, Petrolatum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Red No.27 Lake (CI 45410), Red No.7 Lake (CI 15850), Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090), Ultramarines (CI 77007)

Pro's:
  • It's cheap
  • Pigmentation is great
  • Locally available
  • Unscented
  • It's texture is soft
  • It gives a really pretty glow when used on the body
  • Multipurpose. This could double as eyeshadow or body glitter
Con's:
  • Too shimmery
  • Flimsy packaging
  • A bit powdery
  • It's cool-toned. Not really a con but it might not fit people who're warm-toned
  • The shade would be too dark for fair-skinned people
Will I Buy it Again?

I will, but not in this shade. I'll buy Sunkissed next when I have enough extra moolah.
